Weak Puppy Maintenance Formula

Frieda Crane has used Ann Seranne’s formula successfully for years, sharing her formula whenever the subject comes up, helping many. She still has the SHOW DOGS, January 1976 article by Ms Seranne that influenced her. There are five total steps to follow.

0 to 48 hours (Dates:_________________________)

(5% glucose solution)

1 Teaspoon white corn syrup

Few grains each _ table salt

_ salt substitute

4 Tablespoons boiled water

As soon as whelp dry and breathing normally, weigh it and give 5_6 drops on tongue and let nurse.

Take weight every 4 hours, give glucose solution and nurse.

NO supplement food for first 48 hours. (Esbilac, egg yolk, Yogurt, etc.

48 hours to 72 hours (Dates:_________________________)

2 Tablespoons Esbilac

6 Tablespoons boiled water

1 Teaspoon corn syrup

few grains each _ table salt

- salt substitute

Every 4 hours – weigh, supplement and let nurse

72 hours to 1 week old (Dates:_________________________)

4 Tablespoons Esbilac

12 Tablespoons boiled water

2 Teaspoons corn syrup

few grains each _ table salt

- salt substitute

1 egg yolk (de_stringed) beaten

1/2 Tablespoon unflavored gelatin

Every 4 hours – weigh, supplement and let nurse

1week Old to 2weeks (Dates:_________________________)

4 Tablespoons Esbilac

12 Tablespoons boiled water

few grains each _ table salt

_ salt substitute

1 egg yolk (de_stringed) beaten

1/2 Tablespoon unflavored gelatin

1 Teaspoon (heaping) plain low fat yogurt

NO CORN SYRUP !!!!!

Every 4 hours – weigh, supplement and let nurse

2 weeks until gaining weight

4 Tablespoon Esbilac

12 Tablespoons boiled water

few grains each _ table salt

- salt substitute

1 egg yolk (de_stringed) beaten

1/2 Tablespoon unflavored gelatin

1 1/2 Teaspoon (heaping) plain low fat yogurt

2 Teaspoons scraped raw beef

NO CORN SYRUP !!!!!

Every 4 hours – weigh, supplement and let nurse
