We had our August, 2010 meeting at the Little Rock Show with a good turnout. There were members who typically couldn't travel to Tulsa for a meeting. They saw the VERY nice pet beds that Katherine Auger has ready for next years's show for trophies. Be thinking of what award you would like to sponsor.

Our last meeting was in Tulsa during the Memorial Day weekend of shows. Marcy Wyrens presented the new PCA Judge's Education PowerPoint program and we elected officers for 2010 - 2011. There was a nice turnout with several guests.

There was a good turnout at our meeting in Claremore on April 3rd to hear the latest information available about NAD, presented by Mary Hakel and Katherine Auger. The interest was high with many questions.

The officer slate for the upcoming election was announced, Don Bauer - Pres., Don Colvard - V.P., Mary Hakel - Sec., Danae Fayard - Treas., Marilyn Garner-Illif, Board member at large.

We had the last meeting for 2009 at the Fayetteville show on Dec. 5th. We discussed the upcoming specialty show in Tulsa and signed up more members to sponsor awards. Almost all slots are now taken. The next meeting for 2010 will be scheduled later on. Be thinking about a nominating committe for new officers.

Mary Hakel, Don Colvard and Lisa Richert attended the AKC Canine Experience on Sept. 20th and brought home first prize for their booth for our Pap Club. They were assisted by Martha Greathouse, a Papillon owner from Colorado.

Our Annual Meeting

was held Saturday, June 20th. We want to thank Don Covard for his gracious hospitality for holding the meeting at his home and for supplying us with hamburgers and hot dogs. All the other food provided by the attending members was great and we proved once again that the Papillon Club of Tulsa knows how to eat.

The incumbent officers were re-elected with a new standing board member, Marilyn Garner. She is a valuable member for our club.

We had a presentation of the use of the "Fertile-Focus" magnifying device to determine a female's estrus through the use of saliva samples. It was well received with many questions and comments.

Our Specialty at Claremore

It was a great weekend for a dog show.

Well, it was either raining in torrents or snowing and blowing but still, it was a great weekend. After all it was in Oklahoma.

Everyone was proclaiming the two-day Papillon specialty a resounding success. With an entry of 82 dogs in conformation, we believe that we broke all records for our previous shows.

The club meeting on Saturday was well attended and interesting, even considering that we had to slog through snow to get there. Our Friday night judge, Jan Paulk, gave a very informative presentation with questions and discussions on the Papillon Standard. We are grateful to Jan for her time and expertise.

Thanks to everyone for all of the interest.

The meeting held at the Fayetteville, AR show on Dececmer 6th had the largest turnout of any meeting we've had. We voted in four new members and everyone saw lots of enthusiasm for the upcoming two-day specialty at Claremore, OK on March 27th and 28th.

This specialty is something we haven't done before. It's combined with the regular two-day all-breeds show held by The Claremore Kennel Club of Oklahoma, on March 28th and 29th. Papillons can be shown FOUR times in 2 days plus Friday evening, with only two nights in a hotel or RV park.

We will have Sweepstakes at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 27th and Conformation judging at 5 p.m. with all regular classes plus Veterans, Top Stud Dog and Top Brood Bitch. Up to 3 Awards of Merit will be offered. The judge is Jan Paulk.

On Saturday, March 28th there is Papillon judging during the all-breeds show and then, after Best In Show, we will have our second specialty with regular classes and 3 Awards of Merit. The judge is Margo Klingler.

Then, on March 29th there is the second day of the all-breeds show.

This will be held at the Cherokee Casino, Will Rogers Downs, 5 miles East of Claremore, OK. There are hotels not far away and the casino has an RV park with over 400 sites. They include up to 50 amps of electrical power with full hookups, including sewer for $20 per night.

We are looking forward to this event and hope to see all of our Papillon friends.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

We had another very good club meeting on Saturday, October 4th. A rescue committee was set up and other business was discussed regarding the upcoming specialty show in Tulsa.

Four new members were voted in to the club and we want to welcome them. The membership list updated and is available on the "Member List" page.

As usual, we ate more than we needed from some wonderful member cooks, had a great time and new member Ashley Grissom did a fine job judging our fun match.

---------------------------------------

We had a very productive meeting August 23rd. Several items were discussed and ammendments to the Constitution and Bylaws were passed. Soon, they should be available on this site, though they are awaiting final approval from AKC.

We had a great annual meeting June 7, 2008 at Katherine and Pierre Auger's home in Sallisaw, OK. We ate well, (very well) had a fun match and a very productive meeting.

New officers were elected. (Go to the "Officers" page.)
